Employment

The subjects that you choose at school will impact what you choose as a career below is a link to the department of education web site that has information on school subjects and the sorts of careers that they can lead to click here.

Writing a resume
You don’t need to have a huge amount of information on a resume, the most important things to have are your name and contact details, education – what school/s you went to and what level you completed, any work history include volunteer work and what skills you have that that are relevant to the job your applying for. You can get some really helpful info and help in writing a resume from www.jobjuice.gov.au

Going for an interview
It can be pretty intimidating going in for the interview, all industries are different but with most job interviews there is a panel of 2 or 3 people who will ask you questions about the skills that you have to do the job. Its ok to let the people interviewing you know if you are a bit nervous and you can ask them to repeat questions. Just remember the more prepared you are the more relaxed you will be, so find out as much as you can about the employer. This web site has some really helpful information www.youngpeopleatwork.nsw.gov.au
